How do I join up?
Simply click on the Sign Up button on the home page. This will take you to a page where you have to enter an email address, choose a username and choose a password. Once you have signed up a confirmation email will be sent to your email address to verify your identity. There is no charge to sign up or to upload poster, the Gigman is free for all users and acts. To log in simply enter your chosen username and password in the boxes located at the top right of the screen and click "Log In".
How do I upload a poster?
Once you have signed up and logged in you can go backstage. To go backstage at any time simply click the Backstage button in the top right of the screen. From here you can change your details, upload new posters and manage existing posters. To upload a new poster choose "Upload Posters" from the menu on the left. A large form will appear and you will need to choose the location of your poster image, and then complete the rest of the form. You do not have to fill in all the fields, those marked as optional can be left blank. Once you have filled in this form at least one time, most of the information is saved and used again to upload the next new poster, so it shouldn't take as long in future. You just need to make sure that you have at least one poster already up and the next time you upload a new poster the details from the existing poster will be used to help you complete the form quicker.
What if my Country / Region / City is not listed?
If your country IS NOT listed we didn't know your country was into live music! Please email us and we will add it to the list. If your country IS listed but your region or city is not listed you can add them in yourself at the same time you are uploading your poster. Simply leave the dropdown box at "<- Choose Region / City ->" and enter the name of your region / city in the box underneath, where it says "or new". This will add your region / city to the database and you will be able to choose it from the dropdown box next time.
My Web Link / Custom Link returns an error, what's wrong?
If any of the links you enter are not valid or the page is not up and running at the time you upload the poster the link will be rejected. We don't want to have 404 errors and website not found errors for the links on the poster pages so we check the links are valid and working at the time you upload your poster. Check your spelling and visit the link yourself to verify it is working.
Can I link directly to my poster from another site?
Yes you can. To get the link that you need to use to be able to view your poster directly you must find your poster on the virtual brick wall. Rather than left clicking on the poster to open the small popup, you should right click on the poster and choose "Copy Shortcut" or "Copy Link Location" or "Copy Link Address" or "Copy Link" depending upon which internet browser you are using. this code which will look something like "http://www.thegigman.com/? action1=poster&gigid=666" is your direct link to your poster and information on the Gigman. You can freely distribute this link via email, forum or any other means you like. If you delete the poster and someone visits that link, they will receive an error message saying the poster is not valid.
What will happen to my poster after the gig date?
Once the gig date has passed your poster is automatically removed from the virtual brick wall. You do not have to manually do anything to your poster and you can leave it online for historical reference if you like. Only gigs that are in the future are shown on the wall. If you like you can delete you poster once the gig has been. From the backstage area choose "Manage Posters" and tick the box next to the poster in question and click the delete button. Remember that when you upload a new poster previous information is taken from existing posters to make it quicker to fill out the form, if you have no posters in the system the form will be blank and you will have to enter everything from scratch.
